3. Is the Current Copyright Framework Fit for Purpose in Relation to Writing, Reading, and Publishing in the Digital Age?

  • Richard Mollet (author)
Mollet, as a publisher, approaches the question from a slightly different slant as did Kaye, the solicitor. Mollet states categorically that the copyright framework, which he deems indifferent to the medium, is fit for purpose, and suggests that it would be absurd to suggest that it should be abandoned. He points out that technology could even be considered an enabler of copyright, as it greatly enhances the author’s ability to exploit these rights, by providing a platform from which they can monitor and prevent the infringement of their work.
