Akif Tahiiev is a postdoctoral research fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen, Germany. Previously, he served as a research and teaching assistant in the Department of Human Rights and Legal Methodology at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and held research positions at the University of Vienna and the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, Austria. He has authored numerous articles and chapters on Shii Islam, Islam in post-Soviet countries, digital religion, minorities, legal history, and Islamic law.
