Andrea Schiavio is Lecturer in Music Education at the University of York. He received his PhD from the University of Sheffield (2014), studying musical skill acquisition and development through the lens of embodied cognitive science. After his doctoral studies, he continued this research as a postdoctoral fellow in the USA (Ohio State University), Turkey (Bosphorus University), and Austria (KUG). From 2017 to 2022 he was based at the Centre of Systematic Musicology of the University of Graz, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Andrea is the President of ESCOM.
Dylan van der Schyff is Senior Lecturer in Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne, where he coordinates the honours and graduate programmes in Jazz and Improvisation. He is an improvising percussionist and a researcher in interdisciplinary musicology. He received his PhD from Simon Fraser University (Vancouver) and holds MA degrees in the humanities (Simon Fraser University) and music psychology (University of Sheffield). His postdoctoral work was hosted by the Faculty of Music at the University of Oxford.
