Sabri Gürses graduated from Istanbul University’s Department of Russian Language and Literature, where he earned his master’s degree in Translation Studies with a dissertation on Nabokov’s Pushkin and the history of Russian translations in Turkey. He received his PhD from Erciyes University with a thesis on Russian semiotics and Iuri Lotman. He is the editor of Çeviribilim, an online translation journal, and runs the Çeviribilim Publishing House. He is a postdoctoral researcher at Boğaziçi University. In 2018, his translation of Eugene Onegin was shortlisted for the Read Russia Prize, which he won in 2020 for his Tolstoy translations.
