Dr Andrew Hobbs is a journalism historian, and a retired journalist and journalism lecturer. His 2018 book, A Fleet Street in every town: The provincial press in England, 1855-1900 (Open Book Publishers) won the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals 2019 book prize. He is interested in how newspapers and magazines express local and regional identities and sense of place, and has published widely on the subject.
