ANZUS and the Early Cold War

This chapter explores the development of ANZUS negotiations during 1950 and 1951. While these negotiations are already well documented, it raises often overlooked issues that complicated this negotiation, including the formation of the Middle East Command and US defence objections to the scope of the ANZUS Treaty.
