9. Envelope Impact on the Thermal Performance of a Contemporary Building in Downtown Tunis

Chapter Nine focuses on the facade of a contemporary building in the metropolis of Tunis, analysing its design approach and suitability for the Mediterranean climate. Athar Chabchoub assesses the impact of the building envelope on indoor thermal comfort during the summer, revealing weaknesses in the thermal performance of such buildings during hot seasons. This is followed by a parametric study that highlights the regulatory potential of envelopes with high thermal inertia for maintaining indoor thermal comfort and recommendations for optimising the thermal performance of contemporary buildings in Tunis.
