8. A Comparative Study of Residential Facades in Tehran and Iranian Architectural Principles
Challenges and Strategies
In Chapter Eight, Honey Fadaie examines the facade designs of residential buildings in metropolitan Tehran through the lens of traditional Iranian architectural principles. After identifying the main characteristics of Iranian facades, she analyses the design of selected buildings, evaluating the strategies of municipal committees tasked with aligning these facades with identity and climatic considerations. Based on this analysis, she then presents the most successful criteria and outcomes across Tehran’s twenty-two districts.

(author)Honey Fadaie is an assistant professor in the Department of Architecture
at the Roudehen Branch of the Islamic Azad University in Iran, where
she has taught as a board member for the past fifteen years. She has been
studying Persian gardens since 2008, focusing on their sustainability and
the traditional landscapes in hot and arid regions. Her current research
interests include the concept of sustainability in Iranian tangible
heritages.
