4. Re-Engineered Continuing Professional Development and Modelled Use of Cloud Tools and Social Media by Academic Developers

  • Martin Compton (author)
  • Timos Almpanis (author)
This chapter outlines how academic developers can use ‘cloud-based tools’ and social media apps to improve the training that lecturers receive. They suggest that we need to move away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ transmissive style of training to more transformative types of continuing professional development (CPD). Their two case studies look at the benefits of introducing social media apps that academics can immediately try, experiencing them from the learner’s perspective.
